Global Roots volunteer agreement

1. I will be entirely professional in my relationship with children and communities, while at the same time demonstrating compassion and care in all actions and speech.
2. I will not engage in physical conduct with children such as culturally inappropriate or unwanted touching, hugging, kissing, or blocking of normal movement.
3. I will not stay alone with any children or minors, whether in the child's house or elsewhere. I will not revisit a project or a child without prior approval from Global Roots or with an authorized Global Roots staff member present.
4. I will not share personal contact details (home, work, hotel address) with any child or their family, unless approved with Global Roots mission leader.
5. I will only provide gifts that are approved by Global Roots staff. I will not provide cash gifts directly to children or their families unless approved by the Global Roots mission leader or the community leaders. However, I do understand that cash gifts can be channeled through Global Roots.
6. I will not photograph, video or collect stories of children without the prior authority of Global Roots and approval from the people involved.
7. I agree that all photos, videos, and stories collected are property of Global Roots. I grant permission to Global Routs to use the photographs that I take or any that are taken of me for Global Root’s fundraising materials, website or Global Roots publicity of any kind.
8. I will only photograph people when they are appropriately dressed, and I will respect their dignity and right to privacy at all times.
9. I will be concerned about the perception and actual nature of my interaction and relationships with everyone, particularly with children.
10. I will not use verbal or visual conduct such as derogatory comments, pornography, sexual advances, unwanted invitations, or use of power and authority to persuade a community member or a child.
11. I will not, unless it an important part of my mission, go to bars, discos and other nightlife venues and engage in inappropriate behavior such as drinking, looking for adventure with locals.
12. I will avoid to go to and support places that tolerate prostitution
13. I will carefully record every expense and report to Global Roots mission leader at the end of the trip. I will make sure I remain within budget, and if otherwise I will immediately notify the mission leader.
14. I will not spend Global Roots money for any purpose that is not directly in line with the mission.
15. I will think before buying anything from children on the streets, beaches or temples and refrain from giving money to begging children or parents with infants.
16. I will have proper dress code at all times, particularly when I am meeting local organizations, families, children, and government officials.
17. I will prepare myself before engaging with local organizations and offices. As a Global Roots volunteer I will present a professional and structured attitude.
18. I will not take children or locals out of their home or village without consent from their families, the local chief or the Global Roots mission lead
19. During the mission, I will regularly inform the Global Roots mission director about my progress on a previously agreed frequency, depending on the internet infrastructure availability.
20. If I cease to be a volunteer for any reason, or upon the organization’s request, l will promptly return all supplies, records and unspent funds to Global Roots in good condition and in a timely manner.
21. I will take care and be responsible of equipment loaned to me by Global Roots and which are under my responsibility.
22. Global Roots is not liable for any injuries, damages, liabilities, losses or judgments, which I might suffer or sustain in connection with the performance of my volunteer activities.
23. Global Roots retains the right to terminate my mission at any time should my behavior differs from the above rules, or if my performance and contribution is not adequate.
