Millions of abandoned children face the same problem: emotional neglect + hunger = vulnerability. Vulnerability + exploitation = angry children who completely lose the ability to love or be loved FOREVER.

Global Roots has found a solution: we work with local humanitarians in distressed places to create "children's gardens" — havens of tranquility where traumatized children can learn, heal and feel love.

A Children’s Garden, however, isn’t just about vegetables. Our gardens and chicken egg farms eventually blossom into vocational schools, medical clinics and foster centers. In East Africa, we have seen that families once too poor to take in an abandoned child suddenly do so if the child arrives with vegetables, eggs and a solar array (see below).

Global Roots is a “human-based” charity. No community leader has ever turned us away (we are one of the few western aid outfits currently active in both Gaza and Afghanistan) because we bring aid to children in the name of humanity – not politics or religion. We never talk God or Peace – we only SHOW love.

Please help us protect our planet’s most important asset: its children.

In Lhasa we visited the Braille Without Borders school and we met Kyila who is starting up a kindergarten for blind children. Kyila joined the school at 12 years old, and since learned english, compter and management skills. She is ready to make a difference.

At global roots we empower local humanitarians to achieve sustaining change, people like Rosina Mutundu., Chairman Leva (Kenya), Jahagha Jaheed in Afghanistan, Maria Engenia in Nicaragua or Tendol Gyalzur.

Kyila has the passion, emphaty, initiative and integrity of a true humanitarian. We immediately dispatched funds from our reserve budget to give her project a kick start.

The Global Roots Juke Box

Under construction!

Very soon you can post your original music here to be heard by anyone who views this website. We are currently getting about 1,000 hits a day but this number spikes to 10,000 everytime Paul Wesley and Torrey Devitto shout out word about what we're doing on Twitter. We have heard from famous rockers young and old who are preparing tunes for this Juke Box. If someone makes a donation to download your song, your popularity will increase in our custom made popularity meter. Very hip -- and our children win!
